This is a CD cover in which I analysed prior to making our own. I looked closely at the colour theme used and what it represents. I also looked at the costume and makeup used which could present the genre of the artist. The font and the colour scheme has great significance on a CD cover as it is what the audience (fans) will be able to recognise what genre it is for the artist.
Preparing to create a magazine advert - looking at what is involved with each individual advert.

Here are the examples which we went through in class. We observed each aspect to the advert and made note of it as seen above. This will enable us to carefully plan and create our own advert. I learnt that the dimensions to the advert have to be different to the album cover in order to separate them.
"Analyse the following video referencing Goodwin and Vernallis. Particularly focus on gender representation and star image. Offer different readings."
Robyn Rihanna Fenty, known by her stage name Rihanna, is a Barbadian recording artist, actress, and fashion designer. Rihanna began as a 'Good Girl' from when she first blew up into the Music Industry - of course her 'Star Image' could not immediately be 'Explicit' or some what 'Rebellious'. Her song 'Unfaithful' became a big hit in the charts.
Her representation in this music video is shown to be presented as a 'Innocent' girl and 'Down to earth'. However the narrative which Goodwin would recognise is cliche as she is claiming to be being 'Unfaithful' to her boyfriend with another man - allegedly having an affair.
As the music video progresses she begins to reveal cleavage which attracts the 'Male gaze' whom Laura Mulvi constructed the theory upon. This also contributes to the making of her 'Star Image' and also shows a clear representation of women and the stereotypical view/opinion people have of women.
Her constant caressing of her body and exaggeration of her figure also attracts the 'Male gaze' however she kept this very subtle. There is continuous shots of her cleavage and this is emphasised by the lighting work which Carol Vernallis would recognise to be a good incorporation of editing.
This is the character photo-shoot which me and my partner Kelly produced using Windows Movie Maker. We chose the song LMFAO - Sexy and I know it as our music video is a Gag video we felt it would add to the humour. Having a photo-shoot (photographer - Kelly) using a Cannon HD camera was daunting at first as I have never been photographed however I put this aside and started posing away! It was a fun task as it allowed me to get a clear feel of my characters and to be able to actually be IN character. The video begins with my 'nerd' character followed by my 'nature' character and ends off with my 'tart' character. The entire photo-shoot was an extremely fun experience as well as using Windows Movie Maker. We were able to make each shot appear for however long we wanted it to. It was easy to put together and we enjoyed it extremely. Lastly being in each character for this photo shoot assisted me in feeling more like the characters during filming for our music video which resulted in an advantage.
